Van Lanschot Kempen is an independent, specialized wealth manager, active in private banking, investment banking and investment management. Founded in 1737, we are the oldest independent financial institution in the Netherlands. Every day, we work to preserve and build wealth in a sustainable way, both for our clients and for the society we are part of.
Technology is an integral part of providing service to our clients while maintaining a personal touch. We also use technology to ensure that our communications are as individually tailored as possible – by using dashboards to gain insights into our clients' portfolios, for example.
Within the Digital, Advanced Analytics and Technology (DAAT) department, we improve Van Lanschot Kempen's services through data, better information management, advanced analytics, and customised solutions. Changes in clients' needs and economic developments require us to respond quickly. Therefore, good ideas are promptly implemented thanks to our teams being updated with the latest online developments.
Van Lanschot Kempen Investment Banking consist of two main teams: Corporate Finance and Securities. Within Corporate Finance, our main activities include advising clients on M&A, debt and equity capital markets solutions. Meanwhile, within Securities, our main activities include Equity Research, Sales and Trading. What sets our Investment Bank apart from others is our focus on specific sectors, namely: Life Sciences and Healthcare, Tech & FinTech, Infrastructure, and Real Estate. Within these sectors we know the companies, the investors and are on top of the latest developments and trends.
Student profile
The Digital & Technology departments are looking for people who are innovative, have strong analytical skills, are tech-savvy and work well in teams. Good communication, curiosity and being eager to learn will also give you advantage. Don’t worry if you don’t tick off all the requirements. We are still keen to hear from you as the expected talents can change depending on the specific vacancy. Through our internships, graduation assignments, working student positions, traineeships and junior positions, you will gain hands-on experience to kick-start or advance your career.
Meanwhile, if you are a technical student with an interest in finance, you are encouraged to apply to our Investment Bank. A background in finance is not required, as long as you have an affinity with finance and the financial markets. Moreover, you are a proactive, dedicated team player with an entrepreneurial spirit.
Career opportunities
In the Digital, Advanced Analytics & Technology area of expertise, we are keen to hear from motivated candidates. We hire between 15-20 interns per semester in one of our five DAAT clusters: Data Management, Digital Innovation & Analytics, Investment Management Technology & Analytics, Core Banking Applications, and IT Platforms & Security. If all goes well during your internship, there is a chance to be offered a full-time position.
Within the Investment Bank, you can apply for an internship in both our Corporate Finance and Securities team. As an intern, you get to be in an international, dynamic and challenging environment where you get your own responsibilities. We value our interns, hence we prefer hiring new analysts through our intern pool.
